It has been so several times that I told myself that I need to refresh and see the old masters at the Norton Simon. Finally an opportunity came up and it was great to see all these talented classic painters portraits. Especially Rembrandt, Goya, Degas, Van Gogh, etc...
Just look at the eyes of the portrait below. This 380 years old man could look like one your neighbors without his costume.
If you look at the details of his collar, it is very light almost abstract texture while his eyes are photographically amazing.

And this morning I happen to run on an article about Street art that shows that figurative portraiture is back with a twist again. Look at this video made on established French street artist C215
