Dear readers,

Today I went to the L. A. Art show at the convention center and discovered two new contemporary painters:
Claudia Meyer and Udo Noger.
I liked Claudia's work mixed media with light and Udo's feeling of light with just white paint.

Both have a grand piece in different galleries.

There were a lot of Chinese art galleries, some Japanese and a few Korean represented with great contemporary artists in this art fair.

Djamel Tatah

Dear readers,

Djamel Tatah is a great contemporary painter who is showing at the beloved Foundation Maeght in St Paul de Vence (South of France). This place is beautiful, his paintings have amazing colors ( I am picky about colors) and are very peaceful, a treat for the ones who are lucky to see his show.

Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin

Dear readers,

Back in Wausau (WI) for 12 days after three years, I enjoyed today going to the Woodson Art museum. It is a very neat museum specialized in birds art where I was lucky to show a painting there in 1998 during the Birds in Art international art show.

Since then, the museum collection has expended and went through major works. They have built a new extension to host a donation from BMO Harris Bank about the artist Owen J. Gromme. Their sculpture garden still looks gorgeous and magical even burried under the snow! We are currently experiencing a strong cold spell in Wisconsin.

Currently they have a couple of interesting current exhibitions:
  Huchthausen: A Glass Retrospective (my favorite)
  Transformation 8: Contemporary Works in Small Metals
  Owen J. Gromme: An Enduring Legacy

I spoke to a couple of people working there who were very nice and enthuisastic.
If you live in the area or are a tourist, swing by, it is free and beautiful. Please support this museum if you can because it deserves to be discovered.

Bouroullec brothers in Versailles

Here is a slide show about the installation of this grand  crystal sculptural chandelier made by the Bouroullec brothers in Versailles. You saw previously its picture in my November blog when it was in a warehouse.
It looks like a giant necklace.

Ce lustre a été baptisé Gabriel, du nom de l'escalier au-dessus duquel il a été déployé, conçu en 1772 par l'architecte du roi, Ange-Jacques Gabriel.

Calder at LACMA

Last week-end, I went to see the exhibition Calder and Abstraction which was amazing. I found this link to LACMA Flickr where you can see the beautiful sculptures.

All the sculptures look freshly painted as if Calder was still alive and making them.

Norton Simon -Pasadena.........to street art

It has been so several times that I told myself that I need to refresh  and see the old masters at the Norton Simon. Finally an opportunity came up and it was great to see all these talented classic painters portraits. Especially Rembrandt, Goya, Degas, Van Gogh, etc...

Just look at the eyes of the portrait below. This 380 years old man could look like one your neighbors without his costume.
If you look at the details of his collar, it is very light almost abstract texture while his eyes are photographically amazing.
